Follow-up Evaluation of Exposure among Children (under 7) in Flin Flon and Creighton

This study is in follow-up to a Human Health Risk Assessment and an Evaluation of Exposure study completed in 2009. The report presents the results of this follow-up Exposure of Evaluation study, which was conducted in the fall of 2012. Click here to read the report.

Integrated Risk Management Plan Annual Report – March 2013

As part of the Integrated Risk Management Plan prepared on behalf of Hudbay (as a follow-up to the Flin Flon Soils Study Human Health Risk Assessment and Exposure Evaluation Study,) Hudbay committed to providing the Governments of Manitoba and Saskatchewan with an additional report by March 31 of the following year. Community Pamphlet

To communicate the findings of the Flin Flon Soils Study, a community pamphlet was created. This four page pamphlet provides a quick overview of how the study was conducted, who conducted the study and the results of the study. To read the community pamphlet, click here .

Summary Document and Integration of Results

To provide an overview and the results of the Flin Flon Soils Study, a report called Summary Document and Integration of Results was created. To read this document, click here.

Human Health Risk Assessment

The Human Health Risk Assessment was a critical part of the Flin Flon Soils Study, and was conducted to address the potential human-health risks associated with exposure to smelter-related chemicals in soils and other parts of the environment. This study evaluated current levels of exposure to metals and predicted the estimated risk of levels into the future. To read the Human Health Risk Assessment report, click the headings below.

The Flin Flon Soils Study Exposure Study (2009)

The Human Health Risk Assessment recommended that additional information be collected on the actual exposure levels for Flin Flon area children to certain chemicals (i.e., inorganic mercury, lead and arsenic.) The more specific information gained through this study helped interpret and validate some of the key findings of the Human Health Risk Assessment and provided greater overall certainty.
